“Almost at dusk memories filter through like wildflowers among your ruins” Nonostante le macerie (Despite the rubble) is a site-specific choreographic project that adapts to each location it encounters, embracing its architecture, memories, and materials. The choreography is conceived as a framework of flexible rules in which bodies, moving through space and time, bring the places themselves to life: they inhabit them, traverse them, listen to them, allowing layers of memory sedimented over time to surface. The show evokes the “rubble” that inhabits our lives—existential, ethical, moral, personal. The performers navigate these layers with telescopic awareness, moving from detail to whole, from particular to global, revealing what normally remains submerged. The body, moved by memories, visions, and perceptions of the historical present, transforms inner states into movement. In dialogue with the geometries of the place and with the other presence on stage, different degrees of intimacy emerge: from encounters between strangers to familiar closeness, in a continuous oscillation between distance and proximity. Despite the rubble, it attempts to build a bridge between the alienating loneliness of our time and the possibility of rediscovered reciprocity. In the act of encounter, creation, and play, the show seeks a way to continue living: to inhabit the ruins together, transform them, and discover that survival is a shared gesture.
